Chimera--images of Oakland
The goal with these images are to explore the forgotten and or ignored beauty of Oakland and it's surrounding areas. A beautiful city with a rugged image, Dr. Ziegler takes his camera and captures Oakland landmarks as well as discreet little known locations to show the diversity and exceptionality of The Town.
The technique used to produce the photographs, is called high-dynamic range (HDR) photography. The practice consists of taking multiple differently exposed photos of the same image. When layered together, the image produced is surrealist in nature and reveals a type of beauty that which is previously hidden.
